Parking Passes & Skate Rentals:
Parking passes and skate rentals will be available for purchase in August on IceReg. We are awaiting the University to confirm parking prices. Parking passes are worthwhile for skaters coming 2x weekly or more. Skate rentals are INCLUDED in all Youth Group prices. Skate rentals only need to be purchased for skaters in Groups A & B, who wish to rent CSSA short-track skates.
Grant from Parks Foundation Calgary:
We are very pleased to have received a matching grant from the Parks Foundation Calgary to purchase $12k worth of skates or 30 pairs of skates for the 2022-23 season.
Save the dates – skate rental & parking pass pick-up & September welcome:
Skate rental and parking pass pick-up will be at the Olympic Oval on Tuesday August 30 between 6:00 & 8:00 PM. Email to come with instructions.
On Saturday September 10 at 1:00 PM, we will have our season welcome. There will be important briefings for the following families:
1) All Families new to speed skating: introduction to the sport, safety equipment required, competitions, etc.
2) All Families with skaters in the 11-13 age group as well as the new Neo-Junior group of 14-15. Lorelei St-Rose from Speed Skating Alberta will go over the changes to the age groups and competitions for the 2022-23 season. Skaters will have an on-ice session during that time also so that parents can participate in the briefings.
Summer Program Registration:

Safe Sport:
Every family (a minimum of 1 adult or guardian per family) is required to take the Safe Sport training prior to the start of the season in September. With the current safe sport issues impacting some sports federations, it is important that this training be done by all families. Safe Sport training has been mandatory for all coaches since 2021. It is free online training and takes about 1.5 hours. More information can be found here:

Updated Ice Schedule:
There has been some changes to the Wednesday schedule on short-track – see attached. Group F and E have been bumped up 30 minutes: Group F: 5:30-6:30 PM; Group E: 6:30-7:30 PM.
