Learn to Speed Skate (L2SS)

This program is for skaters that are between the ages of 6 – 9, and are new to speed skating. This program falls within the Fundamentals stage of development.The focus is on the basic foundations of speed skating, ensuring the development of proper speed skating techniques. This all accumulates into entering their first meet or race.

Practices are on either Sunday or Tuesdays.

Practices are once a week for 45 minutes and is held on the short track ice surface.

Intro to Speed Skate (I2SS)

This program is for skaters between the ages of 6 – 12 or those skaters that have some previous speed skating experience (hockey, ringette, figure skating) or were in the Learn to Speed Skate program the previous year. This program falls within the Fundamentals and Learn to Train stages of development.The focus here is the basic foundation of speed skating, ensuring the development of proper speed skating techniques. This group would normally participate in the club mini-meets and/or the two Calgary Speed Skating Association club meets.

Practices are on Sundays and Tuesdays. Tuesday practices will be split between short-track and long-track.

Practices are twice a week between 60 minutes each. Practices are to be held on the short track and some practices may be held on the long track ice surface based on coaches discretion.

Intro at Seton

This program is for skaters between the ages of 6 – 12 or those skaters that have some previous skating experience (skating lessons, hockey, ringette, figure skating).  This program falls within the Fundamentals and Learn to Train stages of development. The focus here is the basic foundation of speed skating, ensuring the development of proper speed skating techniques. This group would normally participate in the club mini-meets and/or the two Calgary Speed Skating Association club meets.

Practices are on Mondays from 5pm-7pm and Fridays from 4:15pm-5:30pm – held on the short track for 1 hour. Participants can choose to attend either 1 or 2 times per week.
