September Update from the Board
New Drop-Ins for Short-Track & Long Track:
If you are looking to do a few drop-ins (adults, out-of-town athletes, etc.) this will be the process:
For ST: Register on IceReg and pay the drop-in fee of $30. As CSSA pays for ST ice on an hourly basis, there is no fee from the Oval. Just show them your receipt from IceReg, then inform them you are a ST drop-in and they will grant you access.
For LT: Register on IceReg and pay the drop-in fee of $18.25. In addition, there will be a $18.25 drop-in fee payable at the Oval front desk. Please show them your receipt from IceReg, pay the Oval drop-in fee and they will grant you access.
10x punch passes are no longer available from the Oval, but you may use these drop-ins as often as needed.

Grant from Parks Foundation Calgary:
We are very pleased to have received a matching grant from the Parks Foundation Calgary to purchase $12k worth of skates or 30 pairs of skates for the 2022-23 season. Many of those skates have come in and have been rented out to members.
Grant from KidSport:
CSSA is honoured to have been the recipient of a KidSport Alberta Return to Play grant. The funding will be used to help rejuvenate and reactivate sport programming for youth in Alberta and encourage children and youth to participate in speed skating programs by hosting monthly Try Speed Skating sessions and providing more support for the youth program coaches.
Officials Clinics – reminders:

With the current safe sport issues impacting some sports federations, It is important that this training be done by all families. Safe Sport training has been mandatory for all coaches since 2021. It is free online training and takes about 1.5 hours.
