Hello CSSA Families,

A big thank you to those who registered in our Virtual Spring Program for the month of May. We were very impressed with the turnout, and the quality of instruction and participation. We are very thankful for your patience and accommodating attitude during this difficult transition.

We have an exciting update for our June program! Gatherings of up to 50 people in a group are now allowed in an outdoor location, as long as we comply with the 2 metre physical distancing rule and other measures. Our new program is based off of these outdoor recreation orders and guidelines, and CSSA pledges to keep our participants and coaches safe by complying to the measures proposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

With this alleviation, CSSA will be offering two additional training methods; June’s program will offer the possibility to participate in both in-line skating and dryland group training outside. The purpose of these additional training methods is to offer our skaters a cross-training challenge that will continue to help develop and improve their speed skating skills over the summer. Cross training is beneficial because many skills can be transferred back to the ice once everything goes back to normal. It is also beneficial because our coaches can give in-person feedback, and can better see the athlete’s movements. This further increases the quality of learning, so we hope it is a beneficial option.

Alien In-Line will be providing rollerblades to those participants that will be needing equipment. The protocol is the athletes will use the same equipment for the duration of the summer, so we are asking families to hold onto them. For safety measures, all equipment has been disinfected according to proper sanitization standards.
