Program Communication

Coaches will email and attach program training times and locations for each week’s sessions. The programs also contain instructions for the “On Your Own” sessions.  Please make sure email addresses are up to date so you can be sure to receive all the information on the weekly programs. Coaches will be providing their contact information, and you may also contact me with any questions or registration FAQ at isabella.salazar@calgaryspeedskating.ca.

Online Dryland Information

Coaches will send an invite to the Zoom meeting in the weekly program email. A link to the YouTube playlist with recorded sessions will also be sent so skaters may have access to look back on past training sessions.

COVID-19 Update

We will continue to adhere to following provincial and municipal COVID-19 guidelines, such as 2 m physical distancing at all times, no loitering by parents/guardians at practices, no “common touch” equipment, and disinfectant/frequent hand sanitation for athletes and coaches. As the most recent provincial guidelines do not recommend wearing masks for high-intensity exercise, athletes will not be required to wear face coverings. All athletes and coaches are asked to practice proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. Everyone is also encouraged to download the AB Trace Together App. Any athlete or coach who is unwell or is exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 must stay home. CSSA urges all members to abide by this precautionary measure to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

RAMP Update

The July registration on RAMP contains a couple of new prompts. The first one is a new COVID-19 waiver that must be signed by parent/guardian during the registration. The second update appears on our Medical questionnaire. New components include longer text boxes to fill out behavioural conditions, allergy severity, and prescription/medication lists. This is extremely helpful so that coaches may know which skaters need accommodations and extra precautions. As always, please make sure all Health Care #’s are up to date. I will be checking registration forms and contacting skaters who do not have these questions answered. You will not be able to participate until all information is complete, so please adhere to these precautionary actions to maintain all skaters’ safety and well-being.

Olympic Oval Update

At this time, it is not anticipated we will be able to skate at the Oval in July.  Should CSSA be able to secure ice at the Oval or other location, a separate registration will be set-up for ice times.
