January Update from the Board
Program updates: With the current health restrictions imposed by the Government of Alberta, we will be continuing to do zoom workouts twice a week and outdoor skating at Redwood Meadows. The ice at Redwood Meadows continues to improve thanks to the hard work of the community (colder weather helped too!). Once the Alberta health restrictions are lifted, we will be skating indoors at WinSport where we have booked ice for February & March, should the facility re-open. The coaching staff has done a terrific job, adapting to the constant changes this season to deliver a quality program.
Program refunds: For skaters opting for the 50% refund in December, please note the refunds were processed in the last week of January. Please allow five to seven business days for the refund to appear on your credit card. For all other skaters still training with CSSA, refunds will be assessed in March.
Parking pass refunds: We are pleased to announce that the University has waived parking fees for 2020-2021. As a result, we will be processing full refunds to all those who purchased parking passes. Refunds will be processed by the end of February.
Update from the Oval Director, Peter McCrory was provided on January 18, 2021: “We wanted to provide you with an update on the replacement equipment delivery schedule. We have received notification from our supply partners that the estimated arrival date for the equipment mentioned above will be early April 2021. Upon arrival, we will need to install and test the equipment. Assuming the equipment testing is successful, we estimate that we will be on track to meet the late May 2021 timeline. We will, of course, update you as we get closer to the time.”
Chinook Blast: Unfortunately, the city has cancelled all the sporting activities that were to be part of this festival. Hopefully, we will be able to showcase our sport next year in 2022 at the Olympic Plaza downtown.
Volunteer hours: We are still assessing volunteer hours as it looks like very few will be required given our race cancellations. Please standby for more information in February.
