Technical T-shirts to be distributed in February:
Based on the T-shirt size you provided at registration, technical T-shirts will be distributed to all skaters registered in CSSA programs (Youth, Adult, Seton).
Junior World Championships:
Congratulations to CSSA skaters Maya Lueders, Daniel Hall, Jalen Doan and Yankun Zhao who attended the Junior World Cup finals and the Junior World Championships in Germany in February. Top 10 results at Junior Worlds included, a 2nd place finish for Daniel Hall in the mass start, Canada’s first and only junior world’s medal since 2018, Jalen Doan with a 4th place finish for in the 500m (only .01 away from a bronze!) and 7th in the 1000m and Yankun Zhao with a 6th in the 1000m and 8th in the 500m.
Masters Long Track Championships:
Congratulations to Bob Irvine (Masters 65) and Ian Dwyer (Masters 45) for finishing 3rd in their Age Groups at the Masters Long Track World All-round Championships in Quebec City. Bob even beat speed skating legend Gaetan Boucher in his 3000 m race!
Last Day of Skating Programs:
Olympic Oval – Sunday March 19. The Oval will be removing its long track ice starting March 20th.
Seton YMCA – Tuesday March 14.
Mini-Meet at Seton YMCA on Thursday March 9th:
CSSA’s final mini-meet for some fun racing and prizes. There is no cost for the mini-meet and all skaters at Seton as well Youth C, D, E & F are invited to register:

Tentatively booked for Friday April 14. Each group will be giving awards to their top skater, most improved and best sportsmanship. Details will be coming soon.

A huge thank you to the Try Speed Skating Volunteers:
We have had over 100 people Try Speed Skating in January and February. This has resulted in a number of new registrations for our youth, adult and Seton programs. We even made the CTV News for braving the cold in late January at our Try Speed Skating and demonstration event at Olympic Plaza during the Chinook Blast Festival organized by Sport Calgary.
