Adult Programs

The Calgary Speed Skating Association supports adult athletes at all levels of development in their participation and enjoyment of the sport of speed skating.

SHORT TRACK

  • For adults who enjoy speed skating and want a structured program to improve their skills
  • For adult athletes who enjoy competing at various levels and want a structured program to support their goals
  • Short track only, 3 sessions per week, dryland training 45 minutes per session, approximately 7 hours per week

LONG TRACK

COACHED – 2 DAY OR 4 DAY

For adult skaters who enjoy speed skating and continue to work on their skills to meet their personal goals.  For adult skaters wanting to compete as a master in Regional, Provincial, National and International competitions and want a coached program to help prepare them to race.

  • For adults who enjoy speed skating and want a structured program to improve their skills
  • For adult athletes who enjoy competing at various levels and want a structured program to support their goals
  • Long track only, 2 sessions per week, dryland training 45 minutes per session, approximately 4 hours per week OR
  • Long track only, 4 sessions per week, dryland training 45 minutes per session, approximately 8.5 hours per week

UNCOACHED – 2 DAY OR 4 DAY

This program is for skaters wanting the flexibility to skate laps on the long track 2 to 4 times per week to continue to enjoy the sport of speed skating as well as meet their fitness goals.

  • For adults who enjoy speed skating to stay fit
  • Long track only 2 to 4 sessions per week, 2 to 5.5 hours per week
